Michael Baer is a Director of Beacon India Private Equity Fund and the Chairman of Baer Capital Partners. Earlier, Michael was the Head of Private Banking and Member of the Executive Board at Julius Baer Holding. Michael is also the Chairman of Charlemagne Capital, a specialist emerging markets investment group with over $4 billion AUM. Michael has a Master's Degree in Management and is a Sloan Fellow from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Craig Downes, CFA, is a director of the Beacon India Private Equity Fund. He is also the Chief Operating Officer of Multiconsult. He joined Multiconsult in June 2008 after working with Maitland Fund Services both in Cape Town, where he headed up the New Business Take-on team, and in Luxembourg, where he was responsible for Fund Administration operations. Craig started his career with Absa Private Bank and prior to that was providing Estate Planning and Financial Planning solutions to clients in the mass affluent market. He holds a Bachelor of Business Science degree in the special field of Finance from the University of Cape Town. Craig is a member of CFA South Africa as well as the Financial Analysts Society of Mauritius.
Bashir is a director of the Beacon India Private Equity Fund. He is also a Senior Manager – Fund Administration at Multiconsult Ltd.. He is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK and holds a B.Sc (Hons) Economics from the University of Mauritius. He is also a member of the Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants. Bashir has been in the global business sector for over 10 years and has an enriched exposure in fund/company set up, structuring and administration, company secretarial, accounting, international tax planning, compliance issues and customer due diligence checks among others. Prior to joining Multiconsult, Bashir spent 9 years with one of the leading licensed management company in Mauritius.
Alok Sama is a Director of Beacon India Private Equity Fund, Director of Beacon India Managers and President of Baer Capital Partners. Alok has over 20 years of investment banking, capital markets and investing experience in New York, Hong Kong, Mumbai and London. Prior to founding Baer Capital Partners Ltd., Alok was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley. Alok is credited with establishing Morgan Stanley’s investment banking business in India. Under his direction, Morgan Stanley attained a leadership position in India with a client portfolio including Reliance Industries, The Tata Group and Bharti Telecom. Over the years, Alok’s clients have also included Procter & Gamble, Citigroup, KKR and General Motors. Alok has an MBA degree from Wharton and an undergraduate degree from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi.
Brij Raj Singh is a Director of Beacon India Managers and the CEO of Baer Capital Partners. Brij Raj Singh was born and raised in India. He attended Mayo College in Ajmer, and was later educated at St. Stephen’s College at Delhi University and the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He has also attended the “Advanced Management Program” at the Harvard Business School. Brij Raj Singh is currently the founding Chief Executive Officer at Baer Capital Partners Ltd. He was the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Julius Baer Middle East. Julius Baer was privileged to have been the first international private bank to be granted a license to operate in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Brij also successfully led Julius Baer to being recognized as the “Best Private Bank” in the region by Banker Middle East. He was previously a Managing Director at Merrill Lynch. Brij has also been the Chairman of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) in the Emirates besides being actively involved with numerous other organizations. Brij Singh regularly writes articles on strategy and leadership development. He is also the author of “India Chalo” (2008), “Wisdom Beyond Borders” (2006), both published by Harper Collins, and “Building Successful Organizations – A Directional Approach” (1996).
